My work as a nurse (and volunteer) has led me to develop an interest and knowledge of supporting anyone experiencing grief resulting from a wide ranges of losses. This may be as a result of bereavement, life changes (such as the end of a relationship, loss of a job, illness, moving), loss of purpose and meaning in life or loss of identity.
I have particular experience working. with grief relating to:
- Pregnancy loss at any stage
- The death of a baby or older child
- Families supporting a child with a life-limiting condition
I work with adults, and young people over 16.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited Training Course) – Ironmill College, Exeter
- Certificate in Counselling – Ironmill College, Exeter
- Registered General and Children’s Nurse
Further Training:
- Cruse Bereavement Care/Ascentis National Awarding Body of Awareness in Bereavement Care Foundation Course
- Counselling parents and families following pregnancy loss and the death of a baby – Sands
Relevant volunteer experience:
- Cruse Bereavement Support Volunteer – offering bereavement support to people who have experienced a wide range of bereavements
- Sands Befriender- supporting anyone who has experienced or been impacted by pregnancy or baby loss (Sands – Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity)
- Grief Support Worker with Balloons Charity – offering Bereavement Support for Children and Young People in Devon
- Young Devon – offering counselling to young people across Devon
